Bedroom Decorating on a Budget

If you’re like most people, you spend at least one third of every day in the bedroom. So, it makes sense to try to make your bedroom the most appealing place that it can be. Redecorating any room can be a strain on your wallet, but with some careful shopping for budget beds from a mattress discounters, along with some creative use of accessories, you can create a cosy and comfortable room that is a joy to spend time in – both while awake, and asleep.

One common misconception with budget beds is that they are uncomfortable. While it’s true that some of the cheapest mattresses are liable to sag under long term use, there are some great beds available from mattress discounters. If you’re willing to accept simpler designs – such as standard box beds, you can get a comfortable, long lasting bed for a sensible price.

Low Cost without Compromising on Style

If a simple box bed sounds too boring for your tastes, you’re approaching design from the wrong angle. Don’t treat simple as “boring”, think of it as an opportunity. Instead of letting the bed dominate the rest of the room, why not add some style to the bed? Cushions, pillows, throws and sheets can all be used to add flavour to even the simplest design of bed.

Even better, if you get bored of the decor you have today, you can easily bring a new flavour just by changing those accessories.

Choosing the Right Bed

Before you go shopping for budget beds, think about what you need. If you have back problems, or any other medical issue that affects how you sleep, let the sales assistant at the mattress discounters know about your issue. They may be able to point you in the direction of a bed or mattress that is perfect for your circumstances.

Be sure to try out a few different budget beds while you’re in the store. If there’s anything you don’t like, don’t compromise, and don’t let the salesman talk you into a purchase. A bad bed can have a huge negative impact on your life – do you really want to spend several months feeling cranky and tired until you can get together enough funds to replace a purchase that you regret ever making?

If you have more than one shop in your area, pay them all a visit. Shopping around is worthwhile for almost any purchase, but it’s essential for something of this magnitude.

Don’t Forget the Linen

When you buy a bed, consider buying a mattress topper to go with it. This will protect the mattress, making it last longer and hopefully saving you money in the long run. If you have some spare cash, get some new sheets and perhaps a new duvet and a set of comfortable memory foam pillows too. There’s nothing more luxurious than the feeling of brand new, fresh linen. You may as well treat yourself after a hard day of cleaning and decorating.
