The Difference in Repaving and Resealing

If you’ve been looking into repaving part of your property, you’re likely to sit between concrete and asphalt. Both are viable options and will be able to provide you with a sturdy surface for several decades. Here are a few tips to consider when preparing for a repave job, and the difference it carries from resealing.

Repaving vs Resealing

For both concrete and asphalt, resealing is simply covering an area of either material that has cracked out before and needs repair amendments. Often very simple, this can be a do-it-yourself job if done correctly.

However, with minimal experience, getting professional consultation before attempting is recommended. This is in order to make sure the process is conducted safely, and there aren’t any future issues.

Pricing and budget for repaving

Asphalt jobs are generally far cheaper when pursuing a repaving project. Quick and easy, paving shouldn’t take more than a day and can be dried in about 24 hours. Concrete is also laid in a similar amount of time, it just can be more expensive.

Drying period after repaving

During this 24-hour period, it’s recommended to avoid using the surface at all costs. Damaging or manipulating the surface prior to thoroughly drying will cause cracks to break out much more easily. In the long term, these cracks will prove to be much bigger nuisances than having to spend a night or two parking on a side street.
